Epic System Transformation for Valley Health

ValleyHealth

About the Client

Valley Health is a not-for-profit health system based in Winchester, Virginia, serving communities across the Northern Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, the Eastern Panhandle and Potomac Highlands of West Virginia, and Western Maryland. Its network includes six hospitals, more than 70 medical practices and Urgent Care centers, outpatient rehabilitation clinics, medical transport, long-term care, and home health services.

Project Summary

When Valley Health sought to modernize its technology infrastructure and establish a fully independent, optimized electronic health record environment, the organization partnered with Med Tech Solutions to provide strategic leadership and comprehensive Epic implementation support.

The enterprise-wide initiative encompassed planning, deployment, integration, data conversion, training, go-live support, and optimization under a single Statement of Work. The transformation included separating the Regional Connect environment from the host hospital, establishing an independent Epic-hosted platform, upgrading 15 existing subsystems, and implementing new Epic modules, including Beaker, Dorothy, and Cupid.

Med Tech Solutions provided executive oversight and program governance while managing the implementation roadmap, timeline, success criteria, third-party vendors, infrastructure upgrades, device deployment, and a $50 million program budget. A multidisciplinary team supported major workstreams spanning inpatient and ambulatory care, ancillary services, diagnostics, revenue cycle, registration and scheduling, integration, data conversion, activation, cutover, and end-user training.
