The Client

Covering 40 medical specialties, this rural healthcare organization is comprised of 500+ licensed beds and 25 ambulatory facilities. For more than 90 years, the locally-based health system has served the west Texas patient community of more than 110,000.

The Challenge

The health system had a mix of IT systems in place, creating a complex and difficult support environment with application redundancy, fragmented reporting, and a lack of integration between the hospital and its clinic. The health system sought a new unified EHR, needing a strategic advisor to help navigate the daunting selection and rollout process.

The Solution

In the health system’s most significant purchase decision to date, Stoltenberg Consulting – the newest member of Med Tech Solutions’ family of brands ­– led the EHR vendor selection process, providing system and organizational assessment, RFP development, evaluation aid and selection assistance, while narrowing down the selection pool into a manageable, fair process. From there, Stoltenberg led the healthcare organization through contract negotiation, risk mitigation and vendor management, offering strategic advisory best practices and dependable navigation throughout each decision.

Stoltenberg also educated client leadership throughout the critical process on the health IT market, major trends, opportunities and obstacles to success, vendor analysis guidelines and vendor pricing techniques all while acting as a trusted advisor at the negotiation table. Stoltenberg supported the client through new system strategic planning, training, go-live and full new system implementation. Continued projects post live during the optimization phase included Epic professional billing work for HIT staffing support.

Current State

Today, Stoltenberg remains a dependable partner for the health system through after-hour nights and weekend Epic Tier 1 Service Desk support, which includes escalation and problem incident workflow best practices; incident documentation, tracking, close and follow up; management reporting; and web portal support.
